Chosen in ChristSunday August 5Pastor Greg Walton tells us that we need to have fellowship with our Creator.
FELLOWSHIP "for without Him, who can eat or find enjoyment?" Ecclesiates 2:25 "Set your minds on things above and not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God." Colossians 3:2-3 "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Matthew 6:33 "But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator." Colossians 3:8-10 "You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?" "This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God." Luke 12:20 - 21 BEING CHOSEN IN CHRIST CHANGES THINGS "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light." 1 Peter 2:8-9 WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE CHOSEN? "eklektos" : being elected or chosen or picked out "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9 "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love He predestined us to be adopted as His sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will—to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the One He loves." Ephesians 1:3-6 THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH WE’VE BEEN CHOSEN "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God THAT you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light." 1 Peter 2:8-9 "You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in My name. This is My command: Love each other." John 15:16-17 "Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing." 1 Peter 3:8-9 |
