How Do You Keep Your Faith Alive? Taking Time for God's Word

Sunday February 10

Pastor Greg Walton tells how God's Word teaches us how to live.

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”    Galatians 2:20

“I came that they might have life, and have it to the full.”         John 10:10b

“Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,  for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose.” Philippians 2:12-13

“No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.”        1 Corinthians 10:13

“For the Word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”        Hebrews 4:12

“I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.”        Psalm 119:11

  1. GOD’S WORD FEEDS US

“The tempter came to Him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”    Matthew 4:3-4

“How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! I gain understanding from Your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path.”   Psalm 119:103-104

 2. GOD’S WORD GIVES US WISDOM

“Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”    Matthew 4:7

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.”    Romans 12:2

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.”     1 Peter 2:9

 3. GOD’S WORD TEACHES US TO HONOR GOD

“Away from Me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.’”      Matthew 4:10

“Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.”         James 1:21
